Point Samson

G'day Mates!

So after two relaxing days in Broome - we did some sightseeing in this ancient Pearl fishing Town and of course spent time at Cable beach - it was time to use our new rental car! The distance between Broome and Point Samson is approx 840 km...we started early at 5.30 pm before the sun rose - it was pretty dark and we could see the stars in the sky. Except for two Roadhouse stops and one for lunch that is comparised to "a Swedish rastplats" we did not stop until Port Hedland. Our best stop was at the end of of 80 mile beach at a Caravan park-a length of the beach were the ends in neither directions where visible (Cable beach is part of it)! In time for Swedish fika we arrived in Port Hedland a town with around 14000 inbahitants but a road network that would have expected a city in the size of much more! The roads are for the mining industry - we have left cattle country and arrived in the mining area. Citizens come her for a couple of years and earn a living that last for much longer. We found a fika spot in an old train carriage - that was Ok and afterwards watched giant ships used for the ore business. You could compare this to Kiruna but with the sea close by. Mattias noticed that all the houses where covered in the mining dust and for the first time since we arrived in Australia and Darwin it was cloudy. After our fika stop and grocery shopping we continued on to Point Samson - the distance is like driving from Stockholm to Byske North of Skellefteå.

We have had a relaxed day with morning excercise, historic Town (the same as our apartment building in Stockholm), laundry, swimming in the pool and for the first time barbeque!

Tomorrow it's time for a drive similar to the distance Stockholm-Umeå and we will be in Exmouth.
