Taking a Friday off work..........A Wise Decision
Joining your wonderful Swedish friends for a weekend away......A Wise Decision
Getting supplies ( gin, tonic, limes etc)........A Wise Decision.
Staying at Wise in the Challets with dirt, leaves, spiders, bugs, insects and god knows what else slithering in under the doors that did not close properly.......NOT so Wise!
Yes our weekend begins on Thurday night when M&M realise that the only Wise Decision we could make was to leave Wise and we found cleaner and more secure accomodation. The little apartment in Margaret River was just perfect and after a little drink we could see the funny side in what was a major let down......but a Wise decision!
With the Wise decision behind us, Friday was to have something for every one.We started with the beach were the waves were very good and at sometimes a little too big even for the Aussie but Malte loved it. We then took ourselves to Cullens to taste some wines and have some lunch. We discovered a delicious Cabernet Merlot but the real find of the day was on the Platter we had for lunch. The Vennison Chorizo was to say the least amazing. All of us were so impressed that we found out were we could buy it so we could go there. After a few more stops we were off to get that Chorizo......I saw the sign for the vennison farm in the distance it turned off onto a dirt track whick I thought would lead us to an oasis of smallgoods! Alas I had turned off too early and we had to dive on the dirt tract for what seamed like 2 km but was about 2 mtrs until I saw the real sign to turn into the carpark, at least now I can say I have taken my car "off road"! Once we did get to our oasis of smallgoods we tasted emu & Kangaroo salami & Vennison salami and a nice take home pack was purchased.
Saturday began again with a trip to the beach and then a small stop at the town markets for just what we needed more good food! We then took Maria's advice & visited Stella Bella which was a wonderful little Cellar Door with great wines and people. Lunch was at Hayshed Hill were I knew they did Gluten free pizza and guess what your could get one with the Vennison Chorizo & goats cheese, To be Franc with you I think Mattias may have cried secretly in happiness! It was also at Hayshed Hill that Malte discovered his new found passion for Cricket.......Yes everyone google it is is a sport the Aussies & the Poms (British) play and it is very big here. He is a natural and since you do not have a Swedish national team he can play for Australia!
Sunday was our final day and it was all planned out..........it was the day to travel back to the big smoke (city) so we headed to Meelup Beach to swim and have a picnic, before the treck home. We planned to swim and take some photos for the Nilsson family......Well Nilssons it was so cold that only the crazy Swedes went in. Yes we did take photos but mostly of me using the towels as blankets! With the rain comming in we headed to Bunbury for our little Picnic. This turned out to be another wise decision as Malte learnt the fine art of grass surfing. Yes all you need is a grassy hill, some cardboard, balance and your in action. All this grass surfing tired him out so once we got back to Perth we had some gourmet hamburgers and Malte ate every little bit without a word.(Ake my Dad & Mum joined us and Dad had Beetroot & Egg on his burger, what an Aussie!)
All in all it was a fantastic few days away and many memories were made but most off all we made many Wise Decisions.
Kellie
