Perth

To enable our hostess to read, this time we will write you all in english.

At last some heat, but as you surely know it's never "lagom". We arrived here on Saturday and was picked up by our friend Kellie from the Airport. She has moved in to a lovely house just north of the city last year and we are staying with her while we are here and she helps us to explore Perths surroundings. After som practicalities: lunch, groceryshopping and a short nap we went to her mums for barbeque in the afternoon. She and her husband has a house with a pool, that's really good especially when it's 35 degrees hot. We went in to the pool immediately when we got there! Malte really enjoyed to swim again and after a couple of minutes there was no need of Mum and Dad. He swam around on his own. Kellies niece Emily, who is 6 months, also went in to the pool sitting on a floater with a small roof on it.

After swimming you get hungry and Kellies mum Annemarie had prepared an awesome bbq, with meat, sausages and a lot of vegetables with that some sparkling wine! With Kellie working at one of the wineries here it's hard to not drink any wine. She is an excelent Sommelier!

We have now been here a full week and we have been able to do a lot, for instance:

- Sunday we went to City Beach and after a short walk we went into the sea to cool off. Lunch at a cafe by Scarborough beach while Malte was sleeping and for dinner we cooked a cool pasta sauce... The beginning of the week has been very hot (37C) for people recently coming from a cold Hobart. Fortunately everything can be cured with a nice cool white wine. Lunch at Scarborough beach.

- Monday was spent i central Perth with some sightseeing and a little bit of shopping, but we preferred to stay in the shade/Aircon since it was very hot.

- Tuesday was spent going to AQWA Underwaterworld (large aquarium with both small and big fish (see below). The main attraction is a tunnel through an aquarium containing sharks, turles and other beautiful or dagnerous fish... Malte firstly enjoyed it a lot, but after a while he saw a diver in the aquarium and he got really scared. So we had to pause for lunch. Before he took his nap he had the oppurtunity to see the sealions swinning and that was very appreciated! A few pictures:

After another hot day we decided to spend the next one on the beach, this time Cottesloe Beach. We had av very fun morning and by the time Malte had his lunch nap mummy and daddy went to a cafe and had lunch in the shade. We also started the trip back to town to spare him the traintrip. Snack for Malte on a cafe in town and then continue home in time to make Kellie dinner when she got home from work. A perfect, slow, hot and enjoyable day.

Thursday: A repeat of wednesday, only change of location: Scarborough beach! The waves wehe high!

Friday: After a morning planning for next week it was time for a touristy thing: A double decker and Tram tour around the town. Malte had lunch on the double decker and slept on the tram tour...! Malte on the bus:

It's now Saturday. We have spent it in Freemantle. A beautiful town on the coast. We have visited the Freemantle market and done some shopping. During Maltes lunchnap we had a perfect meal on The little creatures brewery: Chili mussels, Prawns and some other good stuff, inlcuding the beer... The gang having lunch:

To sum up: We have had a great first week and are looking forward to the rest of our stay. Tomorrow we are going on a derby in Australian Football: West Coast Eagles against Fremantle. We will all cheer for Fremantle since the eagles is a team most interested in other things than Football and not very good at playing either (right Ake N?)

Next week we have rented a car from Tuesday and will be going south. Kellie will join us by friday for a tour in the Margret river area and some wine tasting. How about that! Sounds pretty good!
Finally for grandparents and other: Malte mar jattebra.
Since we will be travelling next week it might take a while until next time blogging.
